sunday, december 29, 2002  shooting stars win state cup! tanya stood tall in goal while earning the mvp award, and the rest of the stars played superbly to capture the massachusetts futsal state cup. it was a back and forth game against a skilled, quick south shore select team until the game was finally decided by corinne's shot near the end.

in an amazing reversal of recent fortune in games with newton magic, the stars pulled off a shocker with a shutout 3-0 win in the semifinal. the shooting stars own brand of magic carried over to the final with a 3-2 win over spirit of massachusetts.

despite this season's ups and downs, the shooting stars came up big in important games and earned a #1 ranking in the state by ma futsal.

monday, march 4, 2002  shooting stars qualify for the national championship tourney. at the region 1 (northeast) championship last weekend, the shooting stars were nervous before playing the fairfax (va.) speed club that produced last year's gu14 region 1 futsal champion. but it was the speed that should have been nervous. a 5-1 win and 3 goals allowed in the 3-game preliminary round got the stars off to a great start. the stars finished the weekend in 2nd place and earned a spot on the national stage in las vegas in june!
